Welcome to Launch TPR
The USA needs truck drivers, but those drivers need CDL driving schools to get on the road. That's why Launch TPR created a simplified process to help individuals and companies gain access to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry and LAUNCH their schools!
What is the FMCSA TPR?
It's the law.
On February 7th, 2022 the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) enacted the Training Provider Registry (TPR). The registry connects CDL applicants to qualified training providers to get the training and certifications they need to safely operate commercial motor vehicles using the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements.
FMCSA TPR Requirements:
Curriculum
Both theory and behind-the wheel (BTW) instruction must cover all topics outlined in 49 CFR part 380 appendices A through E, as applicable.
Facilities
Classroom and range facilities must comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local requirements.
Instructors
Both theory and behind-the wheel (BTW) instructors must meet the definitions outlined in section 380.605.
State Licensing
Training providers must comply with applicable laws and regulations of any State where they conduct in-person training.
Vehicles
Must comply with applicable Federal and State safety requirements and be in the same group and type that driver-trainees intend to operate for their CDL skills test.
Do I need to be registered with the FMCSA TPR to train drivers?
Yes!
In order to train new CDL drivers, you must be registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration TPR.
What is the ELDT?
It's what you'll be teaching.
The ELDT (Entry-Level Driver Training) is a standardized program designed by the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), to new train new CDL drivers and then certify them. New students will need to complete Theory Training and Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) Training in order to be certified by a school or instructor registered with FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR).
